Entry Level Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly talented, self-motivated college graduate to join our staff of industrial designers and mechanical engineers. The ideal candidate will have a BSME or MSME, with a focus in machine design or preferably product design. Candidates responding to this posting must currently possess the eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills required. Training or experience in 3D Computer Aided Design and Drafting (SolidWorks and/or Pro-e), and previous Co-op or intern design focused experience are a plus.

Industrial Design – 3D CAD Specialist

We are seeking an extremely talented 3D CAD surfacing specialist with a background in Industrial Design. This person should enjoy working in 3D CAD and take pride in their ability to create highly refined CAD surfaces and renders.

The specific role of this person will be to translate the sketches and designs of Whipsaw’s Industrial Design team into 3D CAD (preferably Rhino). This person must be able to create surfaces which are visually stunning, and flawless from a construction standpoint; these surfaces will often be used for transition into mechanical engineering. This job best suits a person who is curious, patient, and methodical, and who possesses excellent time management skills.

This person will be responsible for creating beautiful renders of their CAD work (preferably using Bunkspeed Shot). These renders will be used for client presentations and must be realistic in appearance and quickly produced. The ability to create “lifelike” quality renders (light, shadow, reflection, etc…) is critical for this position, and this individual must be passionate about such details!

To be clear, this is not an Industrial Designer position; we are specifically seeking a 3D CAD surfacing specialist. All applicants must have at least 3 years of professional experience in an Industrial Design consultancy.

Industrial Designer Intern

We are seeking talented Industrial Design students or recent graduates who want real world experience in a fast-paced design firm.

Our internship program ranges from 3 to 6 months and serves as an opportunity for young designers to learn every aspect of the Industrial Design process. On a given day, an intern at Whipsaw will sketch, build foam models, create detailed drawings in Illustrator or Photoshop, and create CAD models in Rhino 3D.

Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly talented, self-motivated professional to join our staff of industrial designers and mechanical engineers. The ideal candidate will have a BSME or MSME, along with a 4+ years of experience in complex product design. A thorough understanding of low and high volume part design including; injection molding, sheetmetal, die casting, and machining. Minimum of 3 years experience with SolidWorks and/or Pro-Engineer solid modeling, documentation, and surfacing.

Project Coordinator

We are seeking an individual to coordinate a large multi-discipline program spanning mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial design, and software/firmware development. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills within the team and communicate project issues and status with the client in a professional manner. The individual must have a Bachelor’s degree (Engineering field preferred) and have proven experience leading multiple technical disciplines. Must be able to create and adhere to rigorous schedules and budgets.

 

Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a talented mechanical engineer with a BSME or MSME and 7-10+ years of experience working on complex electro-mechanical products. This individual should have proven experience developing product architectures, mechanisms, and piece parts for both high and low volume products. The candidate should also be able to evaluate designs against specifications both theoretically and empirically. Must have 5+ years experience with SolidWorks and/or Pro-Engineer solid modeling, documentation, and surfacing. Furthermore, this individual should have extensive experience leading other team members and working with external partners such as vendors and consultants. Excellent written and oral communication skills required and must be able to represent the firm in a professional manner. Must be able to help develop and adhere to rigorous project schedules and budgets.
