KoniKore Bioelectric Sensor
KoniKore uses living brain neurons from mice, fused to a silicon chip, to “smell” compounds such as pathogens in a hospital, cancer cells, explosives, and more. KoniKore’s genius is in how it converts a life form signal from a programmed neuron into a digital message. In other words, you can give KoniKore’s neurons a particular instruction, such as sniffing out threats in an airport or “tasting” food for quality assurance. Live cells held in a nutritive liquid cartridge sample the environment when air flows in. This radical field of merging biology, technology, and design is exciting, to say the least, and represents a unique opportunity for innovation.

We represented both bio and tech references in our design, featuring an organic form and nostril-like holes for airflow. The translucent housing even features a cellular-looking texture.
