Echo Pen

The Echo Smart Pen is a pen computer used for handwriting capture, audio recording, and other useful learning applications. The pen has a camera on its tip that records a micro dot pattern on Livescribe “dot paper” while you are writing, allowing you to go back to a note later, tap on it, and hear the audio recording from the exact time of writing the note, so a student can read their notes and re-listen to the lecture simultaneously. Echo is the first product ever to combine all four modes of communication (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in a simple pen and paper format. Echo’s learning benefits are enhanced by Whipsaw’s design – it is easy to hold with sculptural ergonomic contouring, has a compact configuration, and a flat detail to prevent rolling. Introduced in July 2010, and by the end of the year over 500,000 units sold and revenue had doubled from the year before. Over 250,000 media hits have also helped it become a hit.
