Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer at Whipsaw, you will be responsible for creating, developing, testing, and realizing inventive, cutting-edge mechanical engineering solutions. You will be heavily involved in all areas of product development, from concept sketches to mass production.  You should be comfortable working on multiple projects in parallel.  You must have current documentation to be able to work in the United States.

 

You will be required to (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple disciplines, both internal and external
  • Generate parts and assemblies that elegantly achieve product requirements with an emphasis on manufacturability and product cost
  • Efficiently communicate ideas verbally and visually with clients and vendors
  • Design, fabricate and test prototypes at all stages of development

 

Some things we consider critical:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years professional experience in consumer, commercial, medical, or robotics product development
  • Extensive SolidWorks experience and Advance Surfacing Experience strongly preferred
  • Part design for injection molding, casting, sheet metal, machining, and additive manufacturing
  • Creation of 2D Documentation (critical to function at a minimum, GD&T preferred)
  • Engineering fundamentals: material selection, tolerance analysis, process selection
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as FEA and CFD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • English proficiency
  • Self-starter and team player
