Cole Derby is a VP of Industrial Design at Whipsaw. He works from the belief that while design should spark emotion, it must ultimately function flawlessly. This philosophy drives his approach to Industrial Design, where he seamlessly combines design and engineering solutions into a unified whole.

His work has established him as a leading voice in contemporary design, contributing to over 75 major industry awards including Red Dot, iF, Good Design, Fast Company, Medical Design Excellence, and IDEA honors. Furthermore, his rigorous approach to execution has led to him being named an inventor on over 25 design patents.

Cole has led high-impact projects for global giants like Google, Meta, Intel, Olympus, and Samsung, as well as innovative startups like Tonal, IonQ, Aescape, Tile, and Ancient Ritual. Prior to joining Whipsaw, he designed mobile devices at Motorola. Cole holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the College for Creative Studies.
