Adventure Crib
We partnered with Orea to design the first portable crib built for outdoor enthusiasts. Conventional pack-and-plays weigh 25 to 30 pounds, far too heavy to carry past a trailhead. Even lightweight options come in at 13lbs. Orea weighs less than 8 pounds and folds into a 22-inch carry-on suitcase, light enough to strap to your hiking pack alongside a tent and a sleeping bag. It sets up in about a minute and holds to the same safety standards as a crib built for the in home nursery, so parents have a safe place for an infant the moment they reach camp or wherever else they land.Reaching below 8 pounds meant holding three qualities in tension: compact enough to travel yet roomy enough when deployed, light enough to carry and durable enough to meet rugged expectations in the outdoors, and new to the category while meeting every infant-safety standard. Adventure no longer stops when the family grows.
Strong where it counts
Every gram had to earn its place. Built like the best outdoor tents, the frame is lightweight aluminum, bungie cords to make assembly easy, gas-assisted injection molding for rigidity, and textiles built for breathability and durability.
Nursery safe, field-ready
Orea meets the same infant-safety standards as a crib made for the nursery, with certified materials throughout. Breathable mesh walls keep airflow moving and bugs out, while a waterproof base liner handles wet ground. A self-inflating mattress gives the base it’s thickness, then packs away with the rest of the fabric. Safe enough for a nursery, but durable enough for the outdoors.
Easy to deploy
Conventional folding and telescoping frames are often too bulky or too heavy, while splitting the crib into loose parts can be cumbersome to assemble. Orea folds at both ends, with collapsing horizontal tubes that snap into place in a set sequence, each part distinct and self-explanatory. The approach was novel enough to become protectable IP for Moonshot.
More than a campsite crib
At under 8 pounds, Orea packs down for the trail and travels just as easily everywhere else. It fits in a 22-inch carry-on for flights, packs along for a rental or hotel stay, and folds away at a grandparent's house between visits. Certified materials hold up to daily use at home, with none of the chipping or wear of a conventional crib. A crib that’s built for whatever adventure lies ahead.
