“In search of good design” – the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. The Red Dot Label has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design and innovation. This year, Whipsaw is honored to receive three Red Dot Product Design Awards for MXXY Flexx™, PacBio Revio Sequencing System, and Imperative Care Symphony™ Thrombectomy System.

MXXY Flexx™ Designed by Whipsaw

MXXY Flexx™

MXXY Flexx™ is a compact and intuitive hydration system that gives users the ability to blend hydration fluids while on the go. In competitive sports, hydration plays a critical role in performance, injury prevention, and recovery. It’s important to replenish electrolytes and carbohydrates in real time while also drinking water. The backpack-worn sport hydration system presents users with a novel valve mechanism design and dual-reservoir that is easy to fill and clean. The adjustable dial controls flow from both reservoirs so users can fine-tune their hydration based on changing conditions or exertion levels; this system is completely flexible so it moves with your body.

PacBio Revio Sequencing System Designed by Whipsaw

PacBio Revio Sequencing System

Revio is a gene sequencing system that is used for human genetic analysis, cancer research, agricultural genomics, and more. It can sequence up to 1,300 whole human genomes per year for less than $1,000 per genome. Revio features an all-new user interaction model and instrument design, including an intuitive user interface. Sample plates are NFC-linked to experiment data & parameters for automatic detection, enabling setup in less than 1 min. Once sequencing, users can monitor runs remotely via the SMRT Link web app.
Every element is optimized, including a simplified workflow, a perfectly flush sliding glass door with an integrated display, a woven wire ventilation grill inspired by performance cars, and intuitive physical and digital controls. The design improvements maximize sample throughput by enabling users to set up back-to-back runs, manage instruments remotely and monitor progress at a glance.

Imperative Care Symphony™ Thrombectomy System Designed by Whipsaw

Imperative Care Symphony™ Thrombectomy System

Symphony is a minimally invasive thrombectomy device that removes hazardous clots in patients’ veins via a catheter-based procedure. It is a life saving device and benefits both patients and doctors. It provides a lifesaving treatment to patients as a minimally invasive alternative to thrombectomy procedures. For doctors, it is an intuitive and efficient system that allows them to easily guide a catheter to a precise location to extract blood clots that could lead to serious health complications, all while avoiding more invasive medical interventions. Imperative Care aims to make blood clot removal easier, less invasive, more effective, and more reliable.
