Whipsaw was honored with two gold awards and six additional finalists for the 2016 IDEA competition. Google OnHub and the HUBB Oil Filter were chosen as top winners out of more than 1,700 projects from 30+ countries.

IDEA is an initiative of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Judging for design excellence is based on design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client, benefit to society and appropriate aesthetics. This year a team of global design experts declared 26 Gold, 47 Silver and 63 Bronze IDEA winners.

“The IDEA jury is renowned for their rigorous judgment process to select only a few superior solutions out of many, so winning two Gold IDEA awards this year is a huge honor. Congratulations to our clients Google and HUBB too. Their belief in design excellence, combined with a sincere commitment to making innovative products that benefit both the end user and the environment, is what made these awards possible,” said Dan Harden, President/CEO and Principal Designer of Whipsaw.

Awarded designs:

Google OnHub is a new type of residential router that connects all your wireless devices to the Internet and to one another. Its high performance technology inside is contrasted beautifully with its quiet and graceful appearance outside. Cylindrical, devoid of fussy electronic design details, and a bamboo shell advocate a warmer friendlier future for consumer electronics.

HUBB Lifetime Oil Filter offers a significant environmental gain by replacing conventional disposable automotive oil filters with an all-metal dual-filter washable oil filter that lasts a lifetime.

Finalists:

VersaMe Starling child development wearable, Arris Hub.X, Outset Medical Tablo home dialysis system, Mimosa C5i gateway-to-home antenna, Pacific Biosciences Sequel genome system, and the TP-Link Wing router.
