Composer, an in-sink disposal system designed by Whipsaw, made its public debut at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Orlando this February. Named a Best of KBIS Finalist for Game-Changing Innovation, the product picked up coverage from Reviewed, Domino, and Homecrux within its first week on the floor. That's a strong reception for a first-time exhibitor, especially in a category that rarely draws press attention.
Working across industrial design, brand identity, CMF, website design, and e-commerce, we partnered with Composer to rethink the disposal from the ground up. The Composer One replaces the traditional wall switch and exposed grinding chamber with a patented iris, a one-touch control lever, and a three-step system that grinds, breaks down, and flushes food waste automatically. It's gratifying to see the response match the ambition.
Reviewed selected the Composer One as a KBIS 2026 Award winner, praising its unexpected finishes and noting that it signals a shift in how the category is perceived:
"Few kitchen categories have remained as static as the garbage disposal... We love that Composer is making waves in a category that has seen little structural change."
Domino dedicated a full feature to the product, opening with the question at the heart of the project:
"What's the best-looking garbage disposal you've ever seen? It feels like a silly question, but that's the point."
The piece highlighted the quieter motor, the refillable enzyme chamber, and the motion-activated under-cabinet lighting. Read the full feature.
Homecrux covered the three-stage system in detail, calling the Composer One "the perfect and sustainable kitchen companion" and spotlighting the climate-smart approach to food waste. Read the full feature.
